Wolverhampton Wanderers have sacked head coach Vitor Pereira after a dismal start to the 2025/26 Premier League season, failing to win any of their first ten games.

The club confirmed the decision on Sunday, ending Pereira’s tenure less than a year after he signed a new three-year deal in September.

“Wolves have parted company with head coach Vitor Pereira, after a winless start to the 2025/26 season,” the club said in a statement, acknowledging that results and performances had “fallen below acceptable standards.”

Pereira, who took charge in December 2024, was initially praised for steering Wolves to safety last season. However, this campaign’s poor form — yielding just two points — has left the club rooted to the bottom of the table, eight points adrift of safety after a 3-0 defeat to Fulham on Saturday.

His efforts were hampered by the loss of key players during the summer, including Matheus Cunha’s move to Manchester United and the departures of Rayan Ait-Nouri and Nelson Semedo to Manchester City and Fenerbahçe, respectively. Meanwhile, discontent has grown among fans, with frustration mounting over limited investment by the club’s owners, Fosun.

Wolves executive chairman Jeff Shi said the club had hoped to give Pereira time to turn things around but ultimately decided that a “change in leadership was necessary.”

What you should know

Vitor Pereira’s dismissal marks another chapter in Wolves’ struggle to reestablish stability in the Premier League.

The Portuguese coach, once adored by fans for his engaging approach, fell out of favour amid poor results and growing tension with supporters.

The club will now seek a new manager capable of reigniting the team’s fight for survival and restoring faith at Molineux.
