The Finnish Immigration Service has officially opened applications for the Finland Seasonal Work Permit 2025, offering foreign workers exciting opportunities in sectors such as agriculture, forestry, and tourism. These permits provide a pathway for migrant workers to secure temporary employment in Finland later this year, with opportunities available for up to nine months within a 12-month period.

According to TravelBiz, the seasonal work permits are designed specifically for foreign nationals who wish to contribute to Finland’s workforce while complying with labor regulations. It is essential for interested applicants to obtain the appropriate work permit before traveling to Finland.

There are two main types of seasonal work permits available, depending on the duration of employment. For those from countries that require a visa, the Seasonal Work Visa covers employment for up to three months.

Applicants from visa-exempt countries can instead apply directly for a certificate for seasonal work through the Finnish Immigration Service. For employment lasting between three and nine months, a Residence Permit for Seasonal Work is necessary; however, applicants should be aware that processing times can take up to 90 days, making early application advisable.

To qualify for a seasonal work permit, candidates must secure a job offer and sign an employment contract with a Finnish employer. Additionally, they must earn at least €1,430 (approximately N2.2 million) per month, unless a collective agreement specifies otherwise, and arrange for housing that meets Finnish health and safety standards. All applications need to be complete and submitted with the required documents to prevent any delays in processing.

For those interested in this opportunity, the process begins by contacting Finnish employers in the targeted sectors, securing a legally binding contract, and gathering all necessary documentation including a valid passport, the signed contract, and proof of accommodation. Once the right permit type is chosen whether the short-term visa or the longer-term residence permit applicants must pay the requisite fees and monitor their application status through the Finnish Immigration Service’s official website.

With these permits, Finland not only opens its doors to a diverse international workforce but also reinforces its commitment to a regulated, efficient labor market. This initiative is expected to boost economic opportunities for foreign workers while supporting the country’s seasonal industries.
