US President Donald Trump has announced that Israel has agreed to the conditions of a proposed 60-day ceasefire in the ongoing Gaza conflict, placing the next move in the hands of Hamas.
Taking to his platform, Truth Social, on Tuesday, Trump emphasized that during the two-month truce, the United States would work closely with all involved parties to pursue a permanent resolution to the conflict.
The proposal, facilitated with the help of Qatar and Egypt, is expected to be formally presented to Hamas. Trump urged the group to accept the terms, warning, “It will not get better – IT WILL ONLY GET WORSE.”
He also confirmed that US representatives held a productive meeting with Israeli officials earlier in the day to deliberate on Gaza. While Israel has not yet made an official statement, Trump expressed confidence that an agreement could be finalized next week, coinciding with the expected visit of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to Washington.
For several weeks, Washington has been promoting the 60-day ceasefire initiative as a pathway to de-escalation and humanitarian relief.
