The G7, meeting at The Hague, has firmly reiterated that the Islamic Republic of Iran must never acquire nuclear weapons.

In a joint statement issued by the group’s foreign ministers and the European Union’s high representative, the bloc urged Tehran to halt its “unjustified enrichment activities” and resume full cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

The G7—comprising Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States, with the EU as an associated member — emphasized the urgency of restarting negotiations to reach a “comprehensive, verifiable, and durable” agreement on Iran’s nuclear program.

Calling for transparency, the statement demanded Iran grant access to IAEA inspectors and disclose all nuclear material within its borders. The group also condemned hostile rhetoric from within Iran, including threats directed at IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi.

Addressing regional tensions, the G7 welcomed the ceasefire between Israel and Iran announced by U.S. President Donald Trump, urging all involved to avoid actions that could reignite hostilities. They also expressed solidarity with Qatar and Iraq following recent Iranian-linked strikes on their territories.

The G7 stressed the importance of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), reaffirming that Iran must continue to honor its obligations under the treaty. It also reiterated Israel’s right to self-defense and voiced continued support for peace and stability across the Middle East.
