President Bola Tinubu has paid glowing tribute to Vice President Kashim Shettima on the occasion of his 59th birthday, describing him as a steadfast ally in the drive to build a stronger and more prosperous Nigeria.
In a message shared by his aide, Bayo Onanuga, via X on Monday, Tinubu said the day presented a “unique opportunity” to honour Shettima, whom he called his brother, partner, and trusted deputy.
The President praised Shettima for his courage, perseverance, and unshakable faith in Nigeria’s future, noting that his career in public service reflects an unwavering commitment to putting people above personal privilege.

“You served the people of Borno, your home state, excellently as Governor for eight years and later as Senator representing Borno Central. In both roles, you showed that leadership is service, not privilege, even in the face of immense challenges,” the statement partly read.
Tinubu further commended the Vice President’s passion for democracy, dedication to good governance, and commitment to economic progress. He said Shettima’s loyalty and vigor had fortified the administration’s determination to deliver on its Renewed Hope Agenda.
“In choosing you then as a partner, I selected competence and other qualities that Nigeria could depend on. Every day, as Vice President, you have justified that choice by strengthening our work, bringing fresh perspectives, and upholding our commitment to Nigerians,” Tinubu said.
The President reflected on their shared achievements, pointing to gains in food security, investment reforms, and international partnerships, stressing that Shettima’s contributions had been pivotal.

He also expressed optimism that their collaboration would continue to produce meaningful results, with policies creating more schools, hospitals, jobs, and trade opportunities for citizens.
“Our relationship transcends official duties. It is a bridge across regions and traditions, united in purpose and service. You remind us of what is possible when Nigeria comes first as an example worthy of emulation by those who aspire to lead,” Tinubu added.
Concluding his tribute, the President prayed for Shettima’s renewed strength, wisdom, and more years of impactful service while extending warm birthday wishes.
