The Kaduna State caucus of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the House of Representatives has suffered yet another blow as three of its members officially defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The lawmakers Hon. Abdulkarim Ahmed (Kaduna South), Hon. Aliyu Mustapha (Ikara/Kubau), and Hon. Sadiq Ango-Abdullahi (Sabongari) announced their defections in separate letters read by Speaker of the House, Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, during Tuesday’s plenary session.
Their departure marks another major setback for the PDP in Kaduna, as the state continues to witness a wave of defections to the APC. Notably, former Senator Shehu Sani and Hon. Amos Magaji have also recently joined the ruling party, signaling a political realignment in the region.

In their letters, the lawmakers attributed their decision to the “lingering crisis” within the PDP, saying the internal wrangling had made it difficult for them to effectively represent their constituents. They also expressed their desire to align with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which they described as a blueprint for national development.
The lawmakers explained that their defection came after extensive consultations with their supporters and political associates across their constituencies.
In his resignation letter addressed to the PDP Chairman of Makera Ward, Hon. Abdulkarim Ahmed stated that his exit was not made in haste but was “a necessary step in the interest of my people and the progress of our nation.”
Their move adds to the growing list of opposition figures who have crossed over to the ruling party in recent months, further consolidating the APC’s political influence in Kaduna and at the national level.
