A member of the Kaduna State House of Assembly, Honourable Usman Garba, popularly known as Zingo, has been abducted by suspected terrorists while returning to the state from an official engagement.
The lawmaker, who represents Kajuru Constituency, was kidnapped on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, while travelling from Zamfara State to Kaduna.
Available information indicates that the incident occurred along the highway near Kaduna, where armed men intercepted the vehicle conveying the legislator and forced it to stop.
A post shared on X regarding the incident read, “BREAKING: Hon. Usman Garba Zingo has reportedly been abducted by armed bandits while travelling from Zamfara to Kaduna today. The incident adds to growing concerns over insecurity along highways in the North-West region, as calls mount for urgent action. How are security agencies responding to escalating abductions on highways?”
Eyewitnesses said the attackers dragged the lawmaker out of the vehicle and drove away with him, leaving his driver behind at the scene.
It was gathered that the driver immediately reported the incident at a nearby police station. However, before security operatives arrived, the gunmen had already escaped with their victim.
As of the time of filing this report, neither the family of the lawmaker nor the Kaduna State Government had received any communication from the abductors. There was also no information on whether any ransom demand had been made.
The incident has once again raised concerns over worsening insecurity along major highways in the North-West region of the country.
