Charles Soludo has officially been sworn in for a second term as governor of Anambra State following his victory in the 2025 governorship election.
The inauguration ceremony took place on Tuesday at the newly renovated Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka, where Soludo took the oath of office alongside his deputy, Onyeka Ibezim.
The event drew several high-profile dignitaries, including Vice President Kashim Shettima, former presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan, as well as former Commonwealth Secretary-General Emeka Anyaoku.
Also present was Siminalayi Fubara and several other state governors, underscoring the significance of the occasion.
The Independent National Electoral Commission had earlier declared Soludo the winner of the November 8, 2025 governorship election. He secured a total of 422,664 votes, defeating his closest rival, Nicholas Ukachukwu of the All Progressives Congress, who garnered 99,445 votes.
The candidate of the Young Progressives Party, Paul Chukwuma, finished third with 37,753 votes.
According to INEC, a total of 16 candidates contested the election. The state recorded 2,788,864 registered voters, with 598,229 accredited voters. A total of 595,298 votes were cast, while 11,244 votes were rejected across the state’s 21 local government areas.
Soludo, representing the All Progressives Grand Alliance, achieved a landslide victory by winning in all 21 local government areas of the state.
