A significant shake-up is looming at Manchester United as Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, Alejandro Garnacho, Antony, and Tyrell Malacia have officially informed the club of their intentions to leave ahead of the new season.
The revelation was made by renowned transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano via his official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Friday. According to Romano, the players are actively seeking exits following a turbulent season under new manager Ruben Amorim, who took charge in November 2024.
“BREAKING: Marcus Rashford, Antony, Alejandro Garnacho, Tyrell Malacia, and Jadon Sancho have all informed Manchester United they wish to leave,” Romano posted.
“Man Utd have delayed their return date until later in July to allow them time to explore solutions further.”
Despite their exit wishes, the club has stated that all five players will still have access to training facilities should they fail to secure new clubs quickly.
Rashford and Sancho Displaced
Rashford, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Aston Villa, has reportedly been unsettled after losing his iconic No. 10 shirt to new signing Matheus Cunha, brought in for £62.5 million. The move appears to have deepened the rift between player and club.
Meanwhile, Sancho, who had hoped to join Chelsea, saw talks collapse over wage demands. Chelsea instead opted to pay a £5 million penalty clause to back out of the £25 million deal.
Garnacho and Antony’s Exit Plans
Rising star Alejandro Garnacho is also on his way out after being advised by Amorim to find a new club. The 20-year-old was reportedly furious over being benched during the European Cup final against Tottenham, which United eventually lost.
Brazilian winger Antony, who showed promise during a loan spell at Real Betis, may be headed back to Spain. Betis are said to be considering another loan with a £30 million obligation to buy.
Malacia’s Struggles
Tyrell Malacia, sidelined by persistent injuries, failed to secure a permanent move after a short loan spell with PSV Eindhoven. The Dutch side declined to trigger the £8.3 million buy option.
With all five players on the outs and Amorim looking to shape the squad in his image, Manchester United’s summer transfer window looks set to be one of the busiest in recent history.
