Nyesom Wike Arrives in Dubai for 2025 Asia Pacific Cities Summit

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has arrived in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, for the 2025 Asia Pacific Cities Summit and Mayors’ Forum (2025APCS), which is set to take place this week.

Wike’s arrival was confirmed in a statement released on Monday in Dubai by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka.

According to the statement, the Minister, who departed Abuja on Sunday, landed in Dubai around 4 a.m. on Monday. He was received by Nigeria’s Consul General in Dubai, Ambassador Zayyanu Ibrahim, along with officials from the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) who had arrived ahead of him.

Among the FCTA officials who welcomed the Minister were the Acting Executive Secretary of the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA), Richard Yunana Dauda; Senior Special Assistant to the Minister on Legal and Multilateral Cooperation, Benedict Daudu; Director of Development Control, Mukhtar Galadima; Director of Engineering Services, Chuks Udeh; and Director of Protocol, Sani Daura.

On Tuesday, Wike is expected to headline a discussion panel where he will highlight recent developments within the FCT and share insights on urban management and infrastructure growth with mayors and leaders from other global cities.

The organisers of the 2025 Asia Pacific Cities Summit noted that the forum seeks to strengthen long-term trade, investment, and development partnerships among cities and businesses across the Asia Pacific, Middle East, Africa, and South Asia.

The summit, initiated by the Brisbane City Council in Australia, has become one of the most inclusive global platforms that bring together mayors, city leaders, business executives, and young professionals to share ideas and shape the future of urban development.
