The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ogun State Command, has alerted the public to disregard any recruitment announcements circulating on social media, describing them as fraudulent.

This warning was issued in Abeokuta on Tuesday by the command’s spokesperson, Mr. Dyke Ogbonnaya, who clarified that the Corps is not currently recruiting.

Ogbonnaya noted that fraudsters are exploiting the image and reputation of a senior officer within the Corps to deceive unsuspecting members of the public into paying for non-existent recruitment opportunities.

He emphasized that legitimate recruitment by the Corps would be formally announced through authorized media channels.

“We have been intimated of the social media scam by a syndicate group on unsuspecting persons using the photographs and goodwill of a senior officer in the Corps to smartly swindle individuals, groups and others of their monies through this negative scheme,” Ogbonnaya said.

He reiterated that the NSCDC has no affiliation with the scam, condemning the actions of those involved and warning the public to avoid falling victim.

“The corps through its team of intelligence and surveillance is doing everything in its powers to uncover this syndicate and bring them to justice,” he stated.

Ogbonnaya further assured the public that the perpetrators would be apprehended and prosecuted. He also urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to law enforcement authorities.

What you should know
The NSCDC Ogun Command has disassociated itself from a recruitment scam falsely using its name and a senior officer’s image. The Corps emphasizes that no recruitment is underway and warns the public to rely only on official announcements.
