Nollywood actor Bamidele Tope Saint, widely known as Okemesi, has passed away.

The actor died on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, around 11:50 a.m., after spending several hours in a coma caused by complications from medication given to him at a hospital where he was receiving treatment.

Reports indicate that Okemesi had faced difficulties accessing medical care, as several hospitals, including government facilities in Igodo, reportedly turned him away before he received treatment.

Friends and colleagues had been appealing to the public for prayers and financial support to help with his medical expenses.

Following his death, Okemesi’s body was taken to the mortuary.

Fellow actor Jeff Owolewa, also known as Tony Montana, shared the news with the public, confirming the actor’s passing and informing that further arrangements would be communicated by the family.

He said, “With a heavy heart, I’m announcing to the world that Okemesi is dead. The doctor pronounced him dead at exactly 11:50 a.m. this morning, February 24, 2026. Okemesi is gone.

“So, on behalf of the entire Bamidele family, I’m announcing to the world that Oluwatope Bamidele Saint Okemesi is dead. We have taken the body to the morgue. I will communicate the rest of the arrangements to you guys. We appreciate every one of you who turned up for him. May God forgive Okemesi and rest his soul.”

Okemesi’s death has been met with sorrow in the Nollywood community, with fans and colleagues remembering his contributions to the entertainment industry and the joy he brought to audiences through his comedic roles.
