Nigeria and Belgium are set to enhance their economic partnership, focusing on boosting food security and agricultural development.

The Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun, disclosed this during a meeting with the Belgian Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Pieter Leenknegt, on Tuesday. The discussion centered on strengthening cooperation between both nations in agriculture and economic growth.

A statement released in Abuja by the Director of Information and Public Relations at the Ministry of Finance, Mr. Mohammed Manga, highlighted key points from the meeting.

“At the meeting, Edun highlighted Nigeria’s improving economy, declining inflation, price stability, and increased savings in the federation account. Also, the government’s ever-increasing support for farmers through sustainable policies in order to boost agricultural productivity,” Manga stated.

Edun reaffirmed President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to implementing key macroeconomic reforms to foster sustainable growth.

In response, Leenknegt emphasized Belgium’s interest in deepening economic relations with Nigeria for mutual benefits.

“This meeting marks a significant step towards strengthening economic ties between Nigeria and Belgium. The two countries would continue to explore opportunities for cooperation,” he said.
