The Nigeria Police Force is preparing to appoint Chief Superintendent of Police Aliyu Giwa as the new Force Public Relations Officer.
Sources familiar with developments in the Police Force said that, unless there are sudden changes, Giwa will become the 27th Force Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Police Force.

He is expected to replace Assistant Commissioner of Police Benjamin Hundeyin, who was appointed to the position about six months ago and was reportedly removed on Thursday. The change is believed to be part of the ongoing restructuring within the Police Force following the emergence of the new Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu.
A senior source who knows about the development said Giwa was considered a strong candidate for the role.
“He has the charisma for the job, during his tenure as PRO in Lagos state, he performed exceptionally.
“The selection for his appointment was strategically handled,” the source told THE WHISTLER.
Aliyu Giwa is from Kwara State but was born in Maiduguri, Borno State.
He previously served as the Assistant Police Force Public Relations Officer at the Annex in Obalende, Lagos, from February 2017 to March 2022.
The 40-year-old officer is currently a cybersecurity specialist at the Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre, a role he has held since February 2025.
He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from the University of Maiduguri and attended the Federal Government College, Sokoto, for his secondary school education.
Giwa is also a Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS), ACAMS; a Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), EC-Council; an Associate Member of the International Compliance Association; an Associate Member of ACAMS; and he also holds certification in Telecommunication Fraud from the Zhejiang Police College.
Before this development, Giwa served as Police Assistant to the Deputy Inspector General of Police in the Department of Logistics and Supply from September 2023 to December 2024.
He also worked as the Personal Assistant to the Assistant Inspector General of Police at the Nigeria Police Cooperative Multi-Purpose Society Limited from March 2022 to September 2023.
Giwa earlier served as the Public Relations Officer at the Nigeria Police Cooperative Multi-Purpose Society Limited between October 2017 and March 2022.
