The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has approved the redeployment of Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, to the Delta State Police Command.

Adejobi, who was recently promoted from Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) to Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), has been assigned to a new role considered one of the most sensitive operational postings within the Nigeria Police Force.

He first assumed the office of Force PRO in acting capacity on February 16, 2022, as a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), succeeding then CP Frank Mba. His appointment was later confirmed by former IGP Usman Alkali (Rtd).

According to the Force Headquarters, Adejobi’s deployment is a strategic decision aimed at strengthening security operations in Delta State, one of the most challenging commands in the country. The leadership stressed that the move is not punitive or controversial but rather part of the regular career progression and rotation of senior officers across commands.

Sources within the police establishment pointed out that Adejobi brings to the new assignment a rich background in public relations, operational coordination, and community policing. His redeployment, they explained, reflects both his elevation in rank and his capacity to handle a more complex and sensitive operational environment.

In his new role as Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of operations, Adejobi will oversee critical security duties in Delta State, ranging from combating violent crimes to enhancing cooperation between the police and the local communities. His posting is seen as a continuation of the Force’s broader strategy to reinforce security leadership in volatile regions of the country.

What You Should Know

Muyiwa Adejobi’s move to the Delta State Command marks both a promotion in rank and an assignment to a highly demanding role.

Having built a reputation as the public face of the Nigeria Police Force, his redeployment signals confidence in his ability to translate communication, operational, and leadership skills into effective on-ground policing in one of Nigeria’s most complex states.
