Suspended Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has praised the state’s workforce for their unwavering dedication, resilience, and professionalism amid political turbulence and socio-economic difficulties.
In a statement released on Thursday through his Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi, Fubara extended his heartfelt commendation to workers from every sector, hailing their collective input as the cornerstone of the state’s advancement and a symbol of optimism for a brighter and more prosperous future.
The suspended governor, who noted the relevance of this year’s Workers’ Day theme — “Ensuring Safety and Health at Work in a Changing Climate”, called for greater attention to occupational safety and climate-conscious labour practices.
He emphasized that the protection of workers from environmental and workplace hazards is critical to sustainable development.
Fubara also applauded President Bola Tinubu’s administration for its proactive efforts in implementing labour reforms and promoting climate-conscious policies that aim to improve workplace safety across Nigeria.
Despite recent governance disruptions in the state, the governor praised Rivers workers for maintaining their integrity and patriotism.
“Your sacrifices and sense of duty are the cornerstone of our state’s stability and progress,” he said.
Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to the welfare of workers, Fubara urged employers in both public and private sectors to respect labour laws and uphold the rights and dignity of all employees.
He emphasized the need for continuous improvements in working conditions, aligning them with both legal standards and moral obligations.
The suspended governor prayed for divine guidance for all leaders and assured the people of Rivers State of his resolve to build a work environment defined by dignity, opportunity, and prosperity.
He urged the people of Rivers State to maintain their unity and remain hopeful. Expressing faith in a brighter outcome, he stated confidently that “the forces of justice, peace, and progress will ultimately prevail.”
