Former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) deputy governorship candidate in Kano State, Dr. Yusuf Bello Danbatta, has defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Danbatta announced his move to the ruling party in a statement issued to journalists in Kano on Friday.

Explaining why he left the PDP, he said: “I hereby formally announce my decision to join the All Progressives Congress (APC). This decision was taken after careful consideration and wide consultations with my leaders, political associates, supporters, and stakeholders.”
According to him, the decision was based on his belief that the APC offers a better platform for him to serve the people and contribute to the development of Kano State and Nigeria.
Danbatta said he was inspired by the leadership style of Abba Kabir Yusuf and the development programmes being implemented by the state government.
“I am convinced that the APC provides a more suitable platform for me to contribute effectively to the advancement of our people and the development of our state and the nation at large,” he stated.
The former PDP chieftain also commended the APC for what he described as its inclusive approach and commitment to improving the welfare of citizens.
He pledged to continue working for peace, unity, and sustainable development in the state.
Danbatta also expressed appreciation to PDP leaders and members for their support and cooperation over the years. He said he is ready to work with APC members and other stakeholders to promote the continued development of Kano State.
