FG Declares October 1st Public Holiday For Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary

The Federal Government has declared Wednesday, October 1, 2025, as a public holiday to mark Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary.

Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, made the announcement on behalf of the government, extending congratulations to Nigerians at home and abroad on the milestone celebration.

In a statement signed by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, the Minister urged citizens to uphold the values of patriotism, unity, and resilience that have kept the nation strong since gaining independence in 1960.

He also called on Nigerians to remain steadfast in supporting the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which focuses on national rebirth, economic transformation, and collective prosperity.

Expressing optimism about the country’s future, Dr. Tunji-Ojo assured that with unity and cooperation, Nigeria would continue to advance in peace, progress, and development.

He wished all Nigerians a joyful and memorable Independence Day celebration.
