England captain Harry Kane could miss Thursday’s friendly match against Wales after failing to train with the squad on Wednesday due to an ankle injury sustained during Bayern Munich’s win over Eintracht Frankfurt last weekend.
Despite the setback, Kane had joined the England camp earlier in the week, expressing optimism about his recovery. “I am recovering at the moment; I took a knock. A few days and then I should be fine, so no problem for the national team. I will be there on Monday,” the 32-year-old striker said after Saturday’s Bundesliga fixture.

However, both Kane, England’s all-time leading goalscorer with 74 goals, and uncapped Bayer Leverkusen defender Jarell Quansah trained indoors on Wednesday, following personalized recovery routines. The Football Association (FA) confirmed that the rest of the 22-man squad took part in full training at St George’s Park.
Kane, who scored against Frankfurt to bring his tally to 18 goals in just 10 matches for Bayern this season, remains a key figure in Gareth Southgate’s plans. Should he be ruled out, Ollie Watkins, Marcus Rashford, Jarrod Bowen, or Anthony Gordon could lead the attack against Wales.

England will host Wales at a sold-out Wembley Stadium before heading to Latvia on Tuesday for a World Cup qualifier. The Three Lions currently top Group K, sitting seven points clear of Albania, and have won all five of their qualifiers as they aim to secure a spot at next year’s World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
