It was a moment of joy and celebration in Ebonyi State as Cynthia Nwifuru, sister to Governor Francis Nwifuru, exchanged vows with her longtime lover, Engineer Silas Umahi, the brother of Nigeria’s Minister of Works, Engr. David Umahi.
The traditional wedding took place at the royal palace of His Royal Highness Ezekiel Nwifuru Nwakpu in Oferekpe Agbaja, Izzi Local Government Area of Ebonyi State. The ceremony, rich in culture and symbolism, brought together dignitaries, family members, and well-wishers from across the state.
Minister of Works, Engr. David Umahi, who also served as the immediate past governor of the state, shared news of the event on Facebook on Saturday. His post included heartwarming photos of himself, Governor Nwifuru, and other family members, capturing the joy of the occasion.
Umahi, in his post, revealed that the couple’s relationship began in 2020, long before it became public knowledge.
“Yesterday, I attended the traditional wedding of Engr. Silas Umahi and Princess Rebecca Cynthia Nwifuru at the palace of His Royal Highness Ezekiel Nwifuru Nwakpu, Oferekpe Agbaja, Izzi LGA,” he wrote.
“This marriage is truly an act of God. Interestingly, their relationship began quietly in 2020, long before either family knew about it. God indeed has a way of doing things. My relationship with Governor Francis Nwifuru started over 18 years ago, founded on love, trust, and honesty and now God has extended that bond to our younger ones. Congratulations once again to Silas and Rebecca. May this union continue to grow in love, peace, and divine favor.”
The union not only marks a new chapter of love between the couple but also strengthens the longstanding relationship between two of Ebonyi’s most prominent families, the Nwifurus and the Umahis.
