The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially declared Kamilu Sa’idu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the duly elected winner of the Kaura-Namoda South State Constituency by-election in Zamfara State.
The Returning Officer, Lawal Sa’adu from the Federal University Gusau, confirmed the outcome, announcing that Sa’idu secured 1,181 votes in the supplementary election. He defeated Muhammad Lawal Kurya of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who managed to gather only 194 votes.
Overall, across the constituency, the APC accumulated 8,182 votes, while the PDP finished with 5,544 votes.

In his official declaration, Sa’adu stated: “Kamilu Sa’idu of the APC, having scored the highest number of votes, is hereby declared the winner and returned elected.”
The supplementary poll was held in two registration areas — Sakajiki, which had two polling units, and Kyambarawa, which had three polling units.
This rerun was necessary after the by-election initially held last Saturday was declared inconclusive at the Kasuwar Daji collation centre. The reason was that the margin of lead between the two frontrunners was 1,662 votes, which was less than the 3,265 Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) collected in the affected polling units.
Following the conclusion of the supplementary exercise and the subsequent declaration, Kamilu Sa’idu is set to represent Kaura-Namoda South Constituency in the Zamfara State House of Assembly.
