Rashidat Ajibade fired Nigeria’s Super Falcons to a commanding 2-0 victory over the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon in a friendly international on Tuesday at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
Ajibade opened the scoring in the 28th minute after winning and converting a penalty, setting the tone for the Falcons’ dominance.
Despite Cameroon’s attempts to regroup, Nigeria continued to threaten. Just before halftime, Omorinsola Babajide delivered a precise pass to Ajibade, who doubled the lead with a calm finish inside the box.
The visitors grew more competitive in the second half and nearly pulled one back in added time. However, Nigeria’s shot-stopper—CAF’s reigning female goalkeeper of the year—produced a crucial late save to deny them.
The win marked Nigeria’s 15th triumph over Cameroon in 21 meetings. Originally scheduled as a two-match friendly series, only one game was played due to the Lionesses’ delayed arrival.
The encounter served as vital preparation for the Super Falcons ahead of the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), set to kick off in Morocco next month.
