Snaresbrook Crown Court in London has confirmed that Nigerian dancer and socialite Iweh Pascal Odinaka, widely known by his stage name Poco Lee, is set to appear before the court next month over an alleged assault offence.
In a written response to inquiries, the court’s Admin Team Lead, James Baker, verified that the case is officially listed for a plea and trial preparation hearing on September 15, 2026.
Baker confirmed that the case is currently listed at Snaresbrook Crown Court for that date, though he stopped short of releasing further details, noting that specifics such as the courtroom number and exact hearing time would only be released the day before proceedings, in keeping with standard court practice for criminal matters open to public attendance.
The court’s confirmation follows earlier claims by Benjamin Kuti, popularly known as the “Oluomo of Derby” and founder of a prominent community organization for Nigerians living in the United Kingdom.
Kuti told reporters this week that Poco Lee is currently in a UK prison and is scheduled to appear before Snaresbrook Crown Court on September 15, 2026, at 10 am. He said his access to the information stemmed from his regular attendance at court proceedings involving Nigerians facing legal difficulties in the UK.
Kuti explained that the September hearing would be a plea hearing, at which the dancer will be required to formally enter a plea of either guilty or not guilty to the charge against him.
He added that he intends to be present at the proceedings as part of his broader effort to support members of the Nigerian diaspora navigating the British legal system.
Reports of Poco Lee’s detention first surfaced on social media around August 19, though the precise nature and circumstances of the alleged offence remain unclear.
Some Nigerian outlets have described the allegation strictly as assault, while others have reported it involves an alleged sexual assault; neither UK police nor the court had, at the time those initial reports emerged, independently confirmed the details of the arrest.
Poco Lee, who built a large following in Nigeria through his dance performances and social media presence, has not been convicted of any offence. Under UK law, he is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
