Former Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Niger State, Tanko Beji, has left the party and joined the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Beji announced his defection on Friday, according to TVC.
The former PDP chairman is a prominent figure in Niger State politics and previously led the party in the state.
Beji had also played a role in welcoming politicians who defected from the APC to the PDP during his time as state chairman.
In December 2022, he received more than 200 APC members who joined the PDP in Niger State. Among them was a former member of the House of Representatives, Ibrahim Ebbo.
He remained active in the PDP after the 2023 general elections and criticised the defection of some former party leaders to the APC.
At the time of reporting, the reason for Beji’s decision to leave the PDP and join the APC was not immediately known.
Meanwhile, Senator representing Kwara Central Senatorial District, Salihu Mustapha, has also announced his resignation from the APC.
The senator made the announcement on Thursday in a statement shared on his social media platforms.
