A former member of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Samuel Tsebe, has resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and joined the Social Democratic Party (SDP).

Tsebe, who represented Akwanga South Constituency in the Assembly, is currently a member of the Nasarawa State Independent Electoral Commission (NASIEC).

He confirmed his resignation to journalists in Akwanga on Monday, August 17, 2026.

In his resignation letter addressed to his former ward chairman, Tsebe said he left the APC to pursue his political ambition and continue serving his people.

He thanked the APC and its leaders for giving him the opportunity to serve in different positions while he was a member of the party.

The former lawmaker said he had decided to move to the SDP, where he intends to continue pursuing his political ambition.

“This is to pursue my future political ambition in order to serve my people, my community and the nation at large,” Tsebe said.

He also promised to support the SDP fully as the party prepares for the forthcoming general elections.

Meanwhile, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dele Momodu, has claimed that the APC is worried about the outcome of the Osun State governorship election.

Momodu made the claim while speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Monday.

He said the outcome of the Osun election could send a negative signal to Nigerians ahead of the 2027 general election.

The veteran journalist also claimed that President Bola Tinubu lost the Osun election. He described the APC governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, and former governor Gboyega Oyetola as politicians who used the President’s name to gain support in the state.

Momodu also praised Nigerian Afrobeat singer Davido for providing real-time updates during the election. He claimed that without such updates, the APC would have manipulated the election results at midnight.
