Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke and the national leadership of the Accord Party (AP) have endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the party’s preferred candidate for the 2027 presidential election.

The decision was reached after a meeting between Governor Adeleke and the party’s national leaders on Saturday night in Osogbo, the Osun State capital.

The spokesman for Adeleke’s re-election campaign, Pelumi Olajengbesi, announced the development in a statement, saying the meeting focused on party matters and preparations for upcoming elections.

According to the statement, the party’s leadership also stressed the importance of completing major infrastructure projects currently being undertaken by the Tinubu administration.

The projects mentioned include the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Road and the Sokoto-Badagry Highway.

The Accord leadership said completing the projects would ensure that ongoing federal investments deliver their expected benefits to Nigerians.

The endorsement means the party intends to support Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.

The meeting also discussed the forthcoming Osun State governorship election scheduled for August.

During the meeting, Accord leaders called for a peaceful, free and credible election, warning against violence, voter intimidation and electoral manipulation.

They also raised concerns over the alleged use of security agencies to harass or intimidate the party’s members and supporters in the state.

The party urged relevant authorities to ensure that all political parties and candidates are allowed to participate freely in the election.

Those present at the meeting included the Accord National Chairman, Maxwell Mgbudem; Deputy National Chairman, Maryam Sale; National Secretary, Ajaja Abiola Adebukola; National Treasurer, Abdulazeez Oyeniyi Salaudeen; National Organising Secretary, Ibe Thankgod; and National Publicity Secretary, Omorogbe Joseph.

The meeting was also attended by Accord state chairmen from across the country.
