The Jigawa State Government has named the newly commissioned Gandun Sarki Road after Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, who officially inaugurated the project.

The state government also named another major road after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during the same visit.

The two road projects form part of the state government’s efforts to improve transportation infrastructure, boost economic activities and enhance connectivity in the rapidly developing Hadejia axis.

Mrs Tinubu visited Jigawa State on Monday, June 29, 2026, to commission key infrastructure, education and healthcare projects aimed at improving residents’ welfare and supporting the state’s development agenda.

In Hadejia, the First Lady commissioned the Senator Oluremi Tinubu Clinic and Dialysis Centre, the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Road linking Hadejia, Garun Gabas and Dolan, as well as the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Academy.

She arrived at Dutse International Airport at about 11:00 a.m. before proceeding to Hadejia for the inauguration of the projects and the launch of the North-West chapter of the National Community Food Bank Programme.

The National Community Food Bank Programme is designed to address food insecurity by improving access to nutritious food for vulnerable households across the region.

The programme was launched at the Government House Conference Hall in Dutse.

The event was attended by the governors of the seven North-West states: Umar Namadi of Jigawa, Uba Sani of Kaduna, Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano, Dikko Umaru Radda of Katsina, Nasir Idris of Kebbi, Ahmad Aliyu of Sokoto and Dauda Lawal of Zamfara.
