A Federal High Court in Lokoja has cancelled an earlier judgment that ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to register the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, as a political party.
Lere Olayinka, the media aide to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, shared the news on X on Friday.
The new decision was made by the presiding judge, Justice Isah Dashen. It comes days after a Federal High Court in Abuja ordered INEC to register another party, the Citizens Democratic Alliance, CDA.
In the Abuja case, Justice Obiora Egwuatu directed INEC to give the party a certificate of registration within seven days. That ruling was in a suit filed by Tamunotonye Samuel Solomon Inioribo and two others.
More details are expected.
