Akpabio gets new appointment

Senate President Godswill Akpabio has been appointed as co-chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Campaign Council for the forthcoming Ekiti State governorship election.

The appointment was announced by the APC ahead of the inauguration of the campaign council scheduled to hold in Abuja on Wednesday, June 10, 2026.

The council will be chaired by Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani, while Senate Leader Michael Opeyemi Bamidele will serve as secretary.

The body has been tasked with coordinating the party’s campaign activities and mobilisation efforts before the June 20 governorship election in Ekiti State.

According to the party, the council is made up of serving and former governors, National Assembly leaders and other top APC members who will work together to drive the party’s campaign and election strategy across the state.

Several subcommittees have also been established to oversee key areas such as election planning, finance, logistics, security, media, women and youth mobilisation as the party intensifies preparations for the poll.
