Nanle Dariye, son of former Plateau State Governor Joshua Dariye, has withdrawn from the contest for the Mangu/Bokkos Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Dariye announced his decision in a statement issued to his supporters, explaining that the move followed wide consultations, including a meeting with leaders of the ruling party and discussions with key stakeholders in Plateau State.

He described his withdrawal as a “painful and difficult” decision, adding that it came after deep reflection on the prevailing political realities and the broader interest of his constituency.

“I have made the painful and difficult decision to withdraw from the House of Representatives contest after a series of consultations, a personal meeting with His Excellency the Governor of Plateau State, and deep reflection,” he said.

Dariye further explained that leadership sometimes requires stepping back from personal ambition in order to protect collective interests.

“At moments like this, leadership demands not only courage to aspire but also wisdom to make difficult sacrifices for the greater good,” he added.

According to him, the decision was taken to preserve unity, peace, and stability within both the constituency and the ruling party structure.

“I believe that preserving unity, peace, and stability within our constituency and party is bigger than any personal ambition,” he stated.

He also appealed to his supporters to remain calm and avoid actions that could deepen divisions or weaken political cohesion in the area.

Dariye urged continued support for efforts aimed at advancing development and improving the welfare of residents in Mangu/Bokkos.

“Let us continue to work for the progress of our constituency and support every genuine effort aimed at advancing the welfare of our people,” he said.

He, however, clarified that his withdrawal from the race should not be interpreted as an exit from public service, stressing that his commitment to the people remains intact.

“Although I am stepping away from this race, I am not stepping away from our people, our dreams, or our collective future. My commitment to the peace, unity, development, and progress of Mangu/Bokkos remains unwavering,” he added.

What you should know

Nanle Dariye’s withdrawal reflects the growing pattern of internal consultations and strategic withdrawals within political parties ahead of the 2027 elections.

His decision underscores how party unity and stakeholder alignment are increasingly influencing aspirants’ choices, especially in competitive constituencies where internal divisions could weaken electoral chances.

While he is stepping down from the race, Dariye maintains that he remains politically active and committed to contributing to development efforts in his constituency.
