The Minister of State for Humanitarian Affairs, Yusuf Tanko Sununu, has officially resigned from the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Sununu reportedly stepped down on Monday in order to contest for a Senate seat in Kebbi State.
Before his appointment into the Federal Executive Council, the former minister represented the Yauri/Shanga/Ngaski Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives of Nigeria.
Confirming his resignation to Vanguard Newspaper, Sununu said he stepped down in compliance with the country’s rules guiding political office holders who intend to contest elective positions.
When asked in a text message whether he had resigned, Sununu responded in the affirmative.
Sununu previously served as Minister of State for Education before he was redeployed to the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs.
During his time in both positions, he was credited with implementing several social projects that positively impacted residents in his state and other parts of the country.
