FG Declares Public Holidays
The Federal Government has announced that Thursday, March 19, and Friday, March 20, 2026, will be public holidays to celebrate Eid-il-Fitr, marking the end of the Islamic month of Ramadan.
The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, through a statement issued by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Magdalene Ajani. The government extended warm wishes to Muslim communities across the country for completing the holy month of fasting.
In the statement, the ministry encouraged Muslims to continue practicing the values of love, generosity, peace, tolerance, and sacrifice that are central to Ramadan.
Citizens were also urged to use the festive period to pray for the country’s peace, unity, and growth.
The government reminded Nigerians to celebrate responsibly and to support the less privileged during the festivities. It also reaffirmed its commitment to promoting harmony and peaceful coexistence among all citizens.
The declaration ensures that public offices, institutions, and businesses observe the two days in celebration of the festival.
