Patty Etete, an aide to the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, has left the All Progressives Congress (APC) to join the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

His defection comes weeks after resigning from his position as senior legislative aide in the Senate President’s office.

Etete submitted his resignation from the APC in a letter dated March 14 to the party chairman of Ward 1 in Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State.

He cited ongoing disagreements and a sense of exclusion within the party as reasons for his immediate departure.

This exit follows his earlier resignation from the Senate President’s office on February 26, which he said was long overdue.

Etete noted that years of professional challenges and limited access in the office influenced his decision to leave.

Etete represented Ikot Ekpene/Essien Udim/Obot Akara Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives from 2007 to 2011.

He said he initially accepted a lower-ranking role in Akpabio’s office in good faith, but the working conditions eventually became difficult.

On Monday, Etete confirmed to PREMIUM TIMES that he had officially left the APC for the ADC, marking a new phase in his political journey.
