Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has declared that Israel’s military campaign against Iran is far from over, insisting that the ongoing attacks have significantly weakened the Iranian government’s capabilities.

Netanyahu made the remarks during a meeting with leaders of Israel’s health system, where he reiterated his appeal to the Iranian people to rise against their leadership.

Iranians protesting

According to the Israeli leader, Israel hopes the citizens of Iran will eventually “cast off the yoke of tyranny,” though he noted that any change in leadership would ultimately depend on the Iranian population.

Meanwhile, Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, stated on Tuesday that negotiations with the United States are no longer being considered by Tehran.

Araghchi said Iran remains ready to continue its missile operations for as long as necessary, signalling a firm position against immediate dialogue with Washington despite earlier remarks by U.S. President Donald Trump, who suggested that the conflict with Iran could end “very soon.”

US-Israel strikes on Iranian oil facilities

The tensions follow a joint military offensive launched by Israel and the United States against Iran on February 28, an operation that ignited a deadly regional confrontation spreading across parts of the Middle East.

The escalating hostilities have heightened fears of a wider conflict in the region as both sides maintain hardline positions.

What you should know

The tensions between Israel and Iran have been one of the most volatile geopolitical rivalries in the Middle East for decades, largely driven by disputes over regional influence, security concerns and Iran’s military capabilities.

The latest escalation began after a joint offensive by Israel and the United States against Iranian targets on February 28, significantly intensifying the confrontation.

With Tehran refusing negotiations with Washington and Israel indicating its operations will continue, analysts warn that the situation could further destabilise the region if diplomatic efforts fail.
