Carl Dean, the longtime husband of country music legend Dolly Parton, has passed away at the age of 82. Parton confirmed the news in a heartfelt post on X, expressing deep sorrow over the loss of her husband of nearly 60 years.
The couple first met in 1964 outside a laundromat in Nashville when Parton was 18 and Dean was 21. They married two years later in an intimate ceremony attended only by Parton’s mother, a preacher, and his wife. Despite Parton’s global fame, Dean maintained a private life, working as an asphalt paver while his wife became a country music icon.
Throughout their nearly six-decade marriage, the couple cherished a quiet life away from the spotlight, often traveling in their RV and enjoying simple pleasures. Though they never had children, their relationship was marked by deep love and mutual respect.
Dean, born in 1942, is survived by his two siblings, Sandra and Donnie.
