Nollywood actress Temidayo Babatunde recently shared her candid insights on the evolving institution of marriage, addressing emerging narratives that suggest many women might prefer the life of a “baby mama” over being in a traditional marriage.
In her interview, she asserted that no woman is truly happy being a single mother or baby mama, emphasizing that such circumstances are often born out of necessity rather than choice.
“To me, this decision is a personal decision and it has to do solely with the woman involved. If you take a closer look at this question you will get to understand that no woman will be happy being a baby mama but sometimes they can’t just help it. Destiny at times leaves us with no option or choice than to adjust and face it, so if you ask me well I think no woman will be pleased being a baby mama, of course everybody wants to live happily with kids and husbands but situations or destiny might not allow that to happen,” she explained.
Reflecting on the nature of marriage, Temidayo stressed that it is fundamentally a life contract built on commitment, trust, patience, perseverance, and love. She remarked, “For me, marriage is a life contract and it has to do with commitment, trust, patience, perseverance, love etc. If anyone of this is missing in a marriage, the marriage might tend to shake. The position of every woman in a marriage should be a happily married woman with lovely children. Every woman deserves to be happy and also have a happy home,” underscoring her belief that a fulfilling marriage requires all these elements.
Having weathered her share of heartbreaks, Temidayo views these experiences as inevitable steps in life’s journey. “You win some, you lose some,” she reflected, embracing each setback as an opportunity for growth and learning.
When discussing relationships, she noted that age is merely a number. “You can date whoever makes you happy in every aspect,” she said with a smile, suggesting that personal satisfaction should be the guiding principle in love.
For Temidayo, success in Nollywood isn’t just about career milestones but also about personal fulfillment. “To win and keep winning,” she stated, highlighting that the birth of her son remains one of her most unforgettable moments—a reminder that true success encompasses both professional achievements and personal joy.
With her passion, resilience, and ever-growing body of work, Temidayo Babatunde continues to inspire many in Nollywood, proving that perseverance and a deep love for one’s craft can pave the way to greatness while reinforcing that every woman deserves a happy, supportive home in addition to a thriving career.
