Over the weekend, the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) announced plans to extend its regulatory oversight to include the National Association of Nigeria Travel Agencies (NANTA), following a request made by the travel agency body itself.

In a post on X, Director of Public Affairs & Consumer Protection at NCAA, Mr. Michael Achimugu, stated, “NANTA has asked to be regulated by the NCAA. To this end, we will commence engagements towards bringing the agency under the regulatory oversight of the Authority.” He commended the proactive initiative taken by NANTA’s forward-thinking president, Mr. Yinka Folami.

Achimugu further noted that the NCAA currently regulates key aviation stakeholders, including the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMET), the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT), as well as airlines and other industry players.

He expressed optimism that incorporating NANTA would be a landmark achievement, adding that the agency believes 2025 will bring significant successes to the aviation industry under the leadership of Minister Festus Keyamo and Director-General Capt. Chris Najomo.
