A former Chief Whip of the Anambra State House of Assembly and representative for Dunukofia Constituency, Lawrence Ezeudu has officially left the All Progressives Congress (APC) to join the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

The defection was formalized during a brief event at Ezeudu’s home in Umanugwo village, Ifitedunu, where he submitted a letter to ADC Chairman of Ifitedunu Ward 2, Lawrence Akoba.

The move comes after months of political tensions within the APC, which Ezeudu said made it difficult for the party to function effectively at both local and state levels.

Ezeudu explained that internal disputes and divisions in the APC prompted his decision to leave, adding that joining the ADC will give him a better platform to serve his constituency and contribute to the state, the South-East, and the country.

He expressed full support for ADC’s national leadership and the party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, ahead of the 2027 elections.

He described the ADC as a movement that seeks accountable leadership and said his move aims to bring progress and development to Ifitedunu, Dunukofia LGA, and Anambra State as a whole.

At the event, ADC Ward Chairman Lawrence Akoba welcomed Ezeudu to the party, naming him the leader of ADC in Dunukofia.

Akoba expressed confidence that the party will achieve success in the 2027 elections, noting that Ezeudu’s defection strengthens the party in the region.

The event was attended by political supporters and stakeholders from APC, APGA, and the Labour Party, many of whom also pledged their support for the ADC.

What You Should Know

Lawrence Ezeudu represented Dunukofia Constituency and served as Chief Whip in the Anambra State House of Assembly.

His departure from the APC is linked to ongoing internal crises and leadership issues within the party.

The ADC is preparing for the 2027 elections with Peter Obi as its potential presidential candidate.

Ezeudu’s move is expected to boost the party’s influence in Dunukofia and across Anambra State.

Several political supporters from other parties joined him in shifting allegiance to the ADC.
