President Bola Tinubu on Monday held a closed-door meeting with the immediate past Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa (retired), at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

General Musa, dressed in traditional northern attire, arrived in the evening and went straight to the President’s office for the meeting. Details of the discussion were not known at the time of the report. This marks his first visit to the State House since President Tinubu relieved him of his duties as CDS in October.

While the presidency did not disclose the reason behind Musa’s removal, it came shortly after reports surfaced about an alleged aborted plan to overthrow President Tinubu’s government. The administration also offered no official explanation for the reshuffle.

General Musa’s visit comes amid rising insecurity across northern Nigeria. Recent incidents include the abduction of schoolgirls in Kebbi, an attack on worshippers in Eruku, Kwara State, and the kidnapping of Catholic schoolchildren in Minna. The meeting, therefore, has triggered public interest as security concerns continue to mount.

What you should know

General Christopher Musa’s visit to President Tinubu is his first since his removal as Chief of Defence Staff.

The closed-door meeting comes amid heightened insecurity in northern Nigeria, sparking speculation about security consultations as the government confronts kidnappings, attacks, and growing concerns over national stability.
