The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has called on eligible voters in Osun State who are yet to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to take advantage of the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise to do so.

In a statement released on Tuesday, INEC’s spokesperson in Osun, Musa Olurode, expressed concern that a total of 360,794 PVCs were still unclaimed and lying idle at the commission’s offices across the state. He emphasized that the commission was providing residents another chance through the ongoing registration exercise to ensure that all eligible voters are properly documented and equipped with their PVCs.

According to Olurode, the uncollected cards remain a matter of concern as they represent a large number of potential voters who risk being disenfranchised in future elections. He said, “INEC in Osun is using this medium to inform the general public that the ongoing voter registration exercise provides yet another opportunity for people yet to collect their PVCs to do so.”

Highlighting the efforts of the state leadership under Dr. Mutiu Agboke, Olurode appealed to card owners to urgently make use of the CVR window. He explained that the cards are readily available for collection at all 30 INEC local government offices as well as the Area Office in Modakeke, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily.

The spokesperson also encouraged those who have not previously registered to seize the opportunity to enroll their names on the voter register, while strongly warning against multiple registrations, which he said would compromise the integrity of the electoral process.

Olurode reiterated that the commission’s goal is to ensure that no eligible voter in Osun is left without their PVC ahead of future elections, stressing that the responsibility lies with citizens to claim their cards.

The commission is urging residents to take advantage of the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration exercise to pick up their cards at designated centers, while also encouraging fresh registrants to participate and warning against multiple registrations.
