The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise for the 2025 general elections is set to commence across Nigeria on August 18.

In a post shared via its official X (formerly Twitter) account on Friday, the electoral commission revealed that online pre-registration will kick off on August 18, enabling eligible Nigerians to initiate the process through the designated portal: cvr.inecnigeria.org.

Following the online registration phase, physical or in-person registration will begin on August 25, just one week later. According to INEC, this will take place nationwide at all Local Government Area offices and specially designated registration centres to ensure wide accessibility for all eligible citizens.

INEC further explained that the in-person registration exercise will hold from Monday to Friday, starting each day at 9:00 a.m. and ending at 3:00 p.m. The schedule has been set up to allow for organized, fair, and timely registration of new voters ahead of the 2025 general elections.

In a call to civic responsibility, INEC wrote, “Your votes start with registration. Don’t miss your opportunity to register.”

The commission is encouraging Nigerians, particularly first-time voters and those who have changed their locations or details, to take full advantage of both the online and in-person opportunities to ensure they are registered and eligible to vote.
