The National Examinations Council (NECO) has officially released the results of the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), marking the completion of a critical phase for junior secondary school students across the country.

According to NECO, a total of 179,201 candidates registered for the examination, which covered 12 subjects and ran from May 12 to May 23, 2025.

The announcement was made on Wednesday through a statement signed by Azeez Sani, NECO’s Acting Director of Information and Public Relations. The release follows the successful conclusion of the 2025 BECE Award Committee Meeting held at NECO’s headquarters in Minna, Niger State.

Chairing the committee was Dr. (Mrs.) Folake Olatunji-David, Director of Basic Education at the Federal Ministry of Education, who expressed satisfaction with the smooth conduct of the examination and the processes leading to the release of the results. The meeting also included NECO officials and selected secondary school principals from various regions of the country.

As part of the council’s efforts to ensure no student is left behind, the BECE Award Committee also approved dates for the re-sit examination. The re-sit—targeted at candidates who need to retake either Mathematics or English Studies—is scheduled for July 23 and 24, 2025.

This move is part of NECO’s commitment to offering fair opportunities for students to meet academic benchmarks and transition smoothly into senior secondary education.
