Mbappe Drops Harassment Complaint Against PSG Amid Ongoing Legal Battle

Kylian Mbappe has formally withdrawn his civil complaint of moral harassment against Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), his legal representative confirmed on Monday.

The move comes just days before his current club, Real Madrid, faces PSG in the semi-finals of the Club World Cup.

Pierre-Olivier Sur, one of Mbappe’s lawyers, told AFP, “We are withdrawing our civil action,” signaling a shift in the high-profile dispute that had drawn widespread attention since it was first reported.

The complaint was initially filed after Mbappe accused PSG of isolating him during the early stages of the 2023–24 season, allegedly as retaliation for his refusal to extend his contract.

According to Mbappe, he was relegated to training with players the club had marked for transfer, a tactic critics say is commonly used by clubs to pressure athletes into compliance. The controversial practice has faced scrutiny, including a complaint filed by the French players’ union last year.

Mbappe was left out of PSG’s pre-season tour of Asia in 2023 and missed the opening match of the league campaign, further escalating tensions. However, he was eventually reinstated into the squad after negotiations with club officials, although the underlying friction remained.

The 26-year-old forward made headlines last summer when he officially parted ways with PSG after a prolific seven-year stint, during which he scored 256 goals in 308 appearances. Despite his departure, PSG went on to lift their first-ever UEFA Champions League title later that same season.

Mbappe’s relationship with his former club remains complicated. He is currently pursuing legal action to recover €55 million (approximately $64.4 million) in unpaid wages and bonuses he claims are still owed by PSG.

While the withdrawal of the harassment complaint could ease public tensions ahead of Wednesday’s anticipated clash between Real Madrid and PSG, the legal battle over the financial dispute continues to cast a shadow over what was once a storied partnership between club and star.
