NAPTIP Rescues Two-Year-Old Girl Trafficked from Abuja to Aba for ₦100,000

The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has rescued a two-year-old girl who was trafficked from Abuja to Aba and sold for ₦100,000.

In a statement released on Friday, the agency revealed that the child, now renamed Chiamaka Favor (alias), was rescued by the NAPTIP Abia Command on May 8, 2025.

The suspect behind the trafficking was arrested by the Department of State Services (DSS) in Abia State and handed over to NAPTIP. According to the agency, the suspect allegedly collaborated with three trafficking syndicates in Abuja to facilitate the sale of the child to a buyer in Aba.

“Investigations are ongoing,” the statement said, adding that efforts are being intensified to identify all those involved in the trafficking ring.

NAPTIP has appealed to the biological parents or any relatives of the child to come forward and contact the agency urgently.
