Verydarkman Reverses Stance on Cynthia Morgan After Seeing Jude Okoye’s Evidence

Prominent social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, known as Verydarkman, has publicly retracted his previous support for dancehall singer Cynthia Morgan in her protracted legal battle with music executive Jude Okoye.

The controversy took a dramatic turn when Verydarkman met Jude Okoye at an event and was presented with evidence that contradicted Morgan’s public claims, including a 2016 video where the singer herself unveiled her new stage name, “Madrina,” directly challenging her assertions that Okoye had restricted her from using the name.

The dispute between Morgan and Okoye, which has simmered for years, centers around allegations of withheld royalties and career sabotage. Their dispute became public years ago after she accused the music executive of stalling her career, a claim he has consistently denied. The case has divided public opinion, with many initially supporting Morgan’s claims of exploitation by her former label boss.

However, Verydarkman’s investigation appears to have uncovered a different narrative. The activist revealed that Jude Okoye presented him with financial records showing that Cynthia Morgan’s royalties amounted to only $3,860 since her breakout year, a figure that starkly contrasts with public perception of the singer’s earnings potential.

In a candid admission that has raised questions about the initial controversy, Verydarkman stated he felt “misled and foolish” after reviewing the evidence. The activist, who had previously been vocal in criticizing Okoye, now believes the music executive was unfairly maligned and has called for Morgan to issue a public apology.

The dispute has taken on added complexity with recent legal developments. EFCC slams Jude with a seven-count charge over the Ikoyi property, accusing him of acquiring a high-value Lagos property using suspicious funds from illegal sources, though this case appears separate from the Morgan controversy.

The revelations have prompted renewed scrutiny of the original claims and raised broader questions about the power dynamics between artists and record labels in Nigeria’s music industry. Morgan has recently reignited her feud with Okoye through social media posts, accusing him of speaking negatively about her while avoiding direct communication.

VeryDarkMan’s detailed account of the meeting with Okoye, including the financial documentation and video evidence, suggests the dispute may be more complex than initially portrayed.

The case highlights the challenges faced by artists in Nigeria’s evolving music industry and the importance of thorough investigation before concluding high-profile disputes. As the controversy continues to unfold, industry observers await Morgan’s response to Verydarkman’s revelations and call for an apology.

The entertainment industry will be watching closely to see how this development affects the ongoing legal proceedings and whether it leads to a resolution of the long-standing dispute between the two parties.

WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW

Social media activist Verydarkman has dramatically reversed his position on the Cynthia Morgan-Jude Okoye dispute after being shown evidence that contradicts the singer’s claims.

Most significantly, Okoye presented a 2016 video where Morgan herself unveiled her “Madrina” stage name, disproving her allegation that he restricted her from using it. Financial records also showed Morgan’s total royalties were only $3,860—far less than publicly perceived.
