President Donald Trump has announced that the much-anticipated Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) bout scheduled for next year will take place on June 14, coinciding with his 80th birthday, at the White House.
“On June 14 next year, we’re going to have a big UFC fight at the White House, right at the White House, on the grounds of the White House,” Trump told a crowd of Navy sailors during an address at the Norfolk Naval Base in Virginia. He did not mention that the date marks his birthday or the significance of turning 80.

The event, initially announced for July 4, was meant to coincide with the 250th anniversary of the United States’ founding. UFC President Dana White confirmed in August that plans were underway for a special Independence Day bout at the White House, calling it “the greatest fight card ever assembled.”
Bringing the world’s premier mixed martial arts event to the White House will be a historic first, marking an unprecedented crossover between combat sports and American politics. Trump, a long-time supporter and attendee of UFC events, is often seen ringside at major bouts, where he is greeted enthusiastically by fans.

The president’s decision follows his 79th birthday celebration earlier this year, which featured a military parade commemorating the founding of the U.S. Army.
The UFC, known for its high-intensity fights inside “The Octagon,” has grown into a global sports powerhouse, blending boxing, wrestling, kickboxing, and jiu-jitsu. However, it remains controversial due to concerns over fighter safety and the potential for long-term brain injuries.
For Trump, the UFC’s popularity among young men, a key voter demographic, adds political weight to the event.

At a press briefing, Dana White said the organization would begin assembling the White House fight lineup early next year, promising an unforgettable spectacle. “We’ll start looking at building the White House card, which I will right now tell you will be the greatest fight card ever assembled in the history of definitely this company,” he said.
