Personnel of the Joint Task Force North East Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) have intercepted a suspicious vehicle and recovered about ₦37 million in cash along with several mobile phones believed to be connected to terrorist operations in Borno State.
The disclosure was made on Monday by the spokesman of the task force, Sani Uba, who explained that the operation was executed through the Forward Operating Base Chabbal Checkpoint.

He noted that the action is part of sustained efforts to dismantle financial and logistical channels allegedly supporting terrorist groups operating in the North-East.
According to the statement, the vehicle, which had five occupants, was stopped during routine patrol activities along routes identified as common transit paths for insurgents. The interception, he said, marks a significant achievement in ongoing operations aimed at cutting off funding streams and disrupting supply systems that sustain terrorist activities.
“This interception represents a major breakthrough in ongoing efforts to dismantle financial conduits suspected to support terrorist logistics and operational activities,” the statement read.
In a related development, troops successfully repelled coordinated assaults launched by terrorists on Pulka and Mandaragirau communities in Gwoza Local Government Area. During the confrontation, heavy losses were reportedly inflicted on the attackers, including the neutralisation of a senior Boko Haram commander identified as Abou Aisha, who suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the neck.

Uba, a lieutenant-colonel, disclosed that a cache of weapons and other operational equipment was recovered during the engagements. He added that no fatalities were recorded among the troops involved, although some members of the Civilian Joint Task Force supporting the operation lost their lives.
He further stated that injured soldiers were swiftly airlifted for medical attention by the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai and platforms belonging to the Nigerian Army Aviation.
Describing the development as part of a broader operational design, Uba explained that the military has intensified measures to cripple insurgent supply networks and restrict their movement within the theatre of operations. He said the troops built on recent defensive successes in Pulka and Mandaragirau by shifting focus toward choking logistics channels sustaining terrorist groups.

Uba revealed that between the nights of February 14 and 16, insurgents launched attacks from the Sambisa Forest axis targeting Pulka and Mandaragirau. He said the troops responded decisively with sustained gunfire, effectively containing the attacks and forcing the assailants to retreat in confusion.
“Regrettably, some gallant personnel and Civilian Joint Task Force members paid the supreme price in the defence of their location, while a few soldiers sustained injuries and were immediately evacuated by the Air Component of OPHK and the Nigerian Army Aviation platforms.
“Their sacrifice embodies the highest traditions of service, courage, and commitment to the defence of Nigeria,” Uba added.
