President Bola Tinubu has sent warm congratulations to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, as he marks his 58th birthday on December 13, commending his resilience, dedication, and record of performance in public office.

In a statement released on Saturday and signed by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu described Wike as a public servant whose life has been defined by courage, purpose, and unwavering commitment to service.

The President portrayed the FCT Minister as a bold achiever who consistently overcomes challenges and delivers tangible results, particularly in his current role overseeing the administration of the nation’s capital.

Tinubu highlighted Wike’s contributions to the ongoing transformation of Abuja, noting that the minister’s energetic approach to infrastructure development has brought renewed momentum to long-delayed projects. He made specific reference to Wike’s role in resolving a 14-year stalemate surrounding the Apo–Karshi Road project, describing the breakthrough as a clear demonstration of decisive leadership and political will.

The President applauded Wike’s resilience and practical mindset, acknowledging his ability to translate plans into visible outcomes. He thanked the minister for maintaining consistency in the execution of reforms and projects that are reshaping the Federal Capital Territory, adding that Wike’s performance has reinforced his reputation as a leader who thrives on results rather than rhetoric.

“Nyesom Wike has been one of the shining stars in the cabinet, an exceptional performer, developing infrastructure in the Federal Capital like never before and proving that his ‘Mr. Project’ moniker extends beyond his home state of Rivers,” Tinubu said.

He further praised Wike for embracing the Renewed Hope Agenda of the administration despite belonging to a different political party, describing his collaboration as a sign of commitment to national development above partisan considerations. Tinubu concluded by wishing the minister good health, renewed strength, and continued fulfillment as he celebrates another year of life and service to the nation.

What you should know

Nyesom Wike is the current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory and a former two-term governor of Rivers State, widely known for his assertive leadership style and emphasis on infrastructure development.

Since assuming office as FCT Minister, he has launched an aggressive renewal drive aimed at upgrading roads, public facilities, and urban infrastructure in Abuja.

His appointment by President Bola Tinubu, despite coming from a different political party, has been seen as a strategic move to leverage his experience and delivery-focused approach in advancing the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
