Sia solidifies her status as Australia’s streaming royalty, making history as the first to claim No. 1 on Spotify’s Global Impact List twice.
The latest iteration of the list, which tracks global streams of Australian acts excluding domestic listens in Australia, crowns Sia’s “Beautiful People”—her high-energy team-up with French DJ and producer David Guetta—as the No. 1 track. This marks a historic repeat for Sia, who previously claimed the summit in 2023 with her heartfelt ballad “Gimme Love.”
The achievement not only highlights Sia’s knack for crafting universally appealing hits but also reflects the evolving landscape of music consumption, where borders dissolve in the face of viral melodies and cross-cultural appeal.
“Sia’s back-to-back triumphs on this list are no fluke,” says Spotify AUNZ head of artist & label partnerships, Leah Harris, in an exclusive statement. “It’s impossible not to feel the impact of Australian music wherever you go, whether that’s in the U.S., Europe, or emerging markets where local artists are finding passionate new fans.”
Harris further emphasized the borderless nature of modern music: “The data behind Spotify’s Australian Music Global Impact List shows just how borderless music has become, and how artists from Australia are connecting with listeners around the world in deeper and more meaningful ways than ever before.”
Beyond Sia’s headline-grabbing feat, the top 50 list paints a vibrant picture of Australia’s musical export prowess, with several acts demonstrating remarkable international resonance.
Kevin Parker’s psychedelic outfit Tame Impala emerges as a powerhouse, landing seven tracks from their critically acclaimed fifth studio album, Deadbeat. The project’s dreamy, introspective sound has clearly struck a chord globally, with four songs cracking the top 15: the brooding “Dracula” at No. 2 and the introspective “Loser” at No. 8, among others.
This surge positions Tame Impala as a cornerstone of Australia’s indie export scene, blending retro vibes with contemporary production that transcends genres.
Not far behind is The Kid LAROI, the Sydney-raised rapper and singer who’s made Los Angeles his creative hub. The young phenom secures seven entries on the list, a testament to his rapid ascent and ability to blend hip-hop, pop, and emotional storytelling. Standouts include his collaboration with Canadian sensation Tate McRae on “I Know Love,” which lands at No. 3, and the solo effort “A COLD PLAY” at No. 9.
These tracks capture the essence of what makes The Kid LAROI a global force: raw vulnerability paired with chart-topping hooks that resonate with Gen Z audiences worldwide.
The upper echelons of the list are rounded out by a diverse roster of Aussie talents, including electronic maestro Dom Dolla, singer-songwriter Dean Lewis, electronic trio Rüfüs Du Sol, indie rockers Royel Otis, and rising star Lithe.
This mix of established names and fresh faces illustrates the breadth of Australia’s musical output, from dancefloor anthems to introspective, folk-infused tunes.
Geographically, the data reveals fascinating insights into where Australian music is thriving abroad. In 2025, the United States remained the premier export market for Aussie artists on Spotify, followed closely by the United Kingdom and Germany.
Emerging hotspots include Brazil, Mexico, the Philippines, and France, which all feature in the top 10. Even more striking are the growth trajectories: South Africa saw a staggering 99% increase in Australian music streams over the past three years, with the Philippines (+64%) and Colombia (+53%) not far behind.
These figures signal a shift toward non-traditional markets, where streaming platforms like Spotify are democratizing access and fostering new fanbases in regions hungry for diverse sounds.
This streaming success comes on the heels of Spotify’s robust fourth-quarter results for 2025, announced just last week. The Stockholm-based giant surpassed analyst expectations, reporting 290 million premium subscribers—a 10% year-on-year jump—and 751 million monthly active users, up 11%. Such growth underscores the platform’s role as a global tastemaker, amplifying voices from Down Under to every corner of the planet.
As Australian music continues to punch above its weight on the world stage, Sia’s double crown serves as a beacon for aspiring artists. In an industry increasingly driven by algorithms and playlists, her story is one of resilience, reinvention, and relentless creativity.
With the Global Impact List shining a spotlight on these achievements, it’s clear: Australia’s sonic exports are not just surviving in the streaming era—they’re thriving.
