Vice President Kashim Shettima has reaffirmed the federal government’s commitment to intensifying military operations against terrorists across Nigeria, stressing that President Bola Tinubu’s administration is making heavy investments in advanced military hardware.
Shettima gave this assurance in a condolence message on Monday to the victims of the recent terrorist attack in Darajamal, Bama Local Government Area of Borno State, which left both civilians and soldiers dead.
He extended his deepest sympathies to the government and people of Borno State over the incident, describing the loss of lives as a tragedy that has plunged the state and the nation into mourning.
According to a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Communications, Stanley Nkwocha, the Vice President emphasized that President Tinubu has directed the Armed Forces to review their security operations, particularly with the deployment of upgraded military hardware and surveillance technology to dismantle terrorist strongholds.

“I extend my heartfelt condolences to Governor Babagana Umara Zulum, the people of Borno State, and the Nigerian military over the tragic loss of our compatriots. These deaths have left the entire nation in collective grief, but we are confident that justice will be served for the bereaved families,” Shettima stated.
The Vice President said he remained confident in the capability of the Armed Forces to overcome the challenges in Borno and other troubled regions. He cited the President’s approval for the procurement of more drones and his instruction to security agencies to strengthen and reassess their operational strategies.
Shettima also underscored the federal government’s consideration of creating state police, highlighting President Tinubu’s position that certain security challenges in Nigeria require specialised units familiar with local terrains, cultural nuances, and grassroots networks.
He offered prayers for the families of the deceased and assured both the Borno State government and affected households that the federal government would continue to support ongoing efforts to restore peace and stability in the region.
